Pizza Hut is everywhere in Code Geass for a reason. Code Geass - AKA Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - debuted in the late 2000s, and follows an alternate historical timeline. The series revolves around an exiled prince named Lelouch who is given the power of the "Geass" by a mysterious young woman named C.C, which allows him to plant commands in people's minds. Lelouch uses this power to help fight a rebellion against Britannia and while the series had plenty of action and mech battles, it also featured some complex ideas on politics and war.

Code Geass ran for two seasons and spawned spinoffs like a manga series, video games and movies like Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection. The show has received mostly positive reviews too, especially for the way it fleshed out characters like Lelouch or C.C. One of the strangest elements about Code Geass - which has some great episodes - is the product placement. Many movies or TV shows feature product placement of some kind, and while some can find subtle ways to implement sponsors - such as a close-up of a certain brand of watch when a character is looking at the time - others are much less subtle.

The Daniel Craig James Bond movies in particular came under fire for blatant product placement, from Sony laptops and gadgets to 007 suddenly drinking Heineken. Code Geass' version of this is Pizza Hut, whose logo and pizza are plastered all over the show. This is somewhat justified with the reasoning that C.C. is somewhat addicted to pizza and even tries to start her own pizza club. Of course, the obvious reason Pizza Hut is everywhere in Code Geass is that the restaurant chain was a sponsor of the anime.

Code Geass is far from the only anime to feature support from Pizza Hut - who once forced the makers ofPoltergeist to edit a scene - either, with everything from Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence to the Evangelion movies being sponsored. Its blatant overuse in Code Geass is almost funny, and rumor has it that while Pizza Hut only paid for a few spots on the series, studio Sunrise thought it was funny to jam in excessive references.

The usage of Pizza Hut is so prevalent that when Code Geass arrived on Netflix and many of the logos were covered up - presumably due to licensing issues - fans immediately took to social media to point it out. Pizza Hut is such a defining element of Code Geass ' world - and C.C. herself - that it felt strange to watch it with the logos removed.
